On Throwback Thursday, I’m going to take the easy way out and post some content I covered before: why not? What I find fascinating about looking back at these posts is my growth as a writer and person.
It’s…rough in this post. But I was listening to 24-straight hours of live Throbbing Gristle days before the 2016 election. Is it a shock I didn’t post for nearly 10 years?
I wish I had more time and bandwidth to discuss this more deeply. My initial impulse was to delay it (I’m literally typing this after about 11 hours of work in my full-time and part-time gig: don’t cry for me, Argentina, because I’m incredibly lucky in today’s post-logic world, and if I had more time to add more text here I would, but now I must be off to eat pizza), but I want to get back into the daily posting. Even if it kills me.
I’ll say that my basic feelings about the band are about the same as they were then: they work best in the live environment. It’s here where you can feel the grime. My perspective on the musical qualities may have changed. A little.
Anyway, hope you enjoy.
